Festive Eats:

I love getting festive with my food for the holidays. Because not only are they cute and festive. But they are easy to throw together and extra delicious. And here are some festive and delicious Valentine’s Day or Galentine’s day ideas to make for your loved ones.

Breakfast ideas:

  1. Gluten Free Chocolate Banana Baked Donuts
  2. Raspberry heart thumbprint cookies
  3. Mini banana pancakes
  4. Strawberry cream cheese danishes
  5. Banana and strawberry heart skewers
  6. Strawberry heart pop tarts

For the mini banana pancakes, they are super easy to prepare! Grab your favorite pancake mix, add 1 tsp beet root powder, and mix until incorporated. But you could also use some red natural food coloring too. Slice 1-2 bananas into 1 inch thick coins, dip the banana in the batter, and add to a greased pan. And cook a couple minutes each side. Using a heart skewer, push into a strawberry to create the heart shape. And add to a skewer along with 3 of the mini pancakes.

And for the strawberry cream cheese danishes you’ll need gluten free puff pastry dough, homemade strawberry cream cheese, and some powdered sugar. Roll out the defrosted and room temperature puff pastry and use a medium heart cookie cutter to cut out puff pastry. Add to a lined baking sheet and use a smaller heart to press into the center of the heart. And for the strawberry cream cheese, mix room temperature cream cheese, freeze dried strawberries ground into a powder, and strawberry jam. And add some of the cream cheese mixture to the center of the puff pastry. Brush on egg wash around the edges and bake 400°F for 10-13 minutes or until golden brown. And sprinkle with some powdered sugar on top.

And if you want an easy way to make pop tarts, grab your favorite pie crust. Cut out hearts using a heart cookie cutter, add 1 Tbsp jam of choice (I used strawberry). And place another heart cut out on top, press with fingers to seal and then use a fork to give it an extra seal. Brush with egg wash on top and bake 400°F for 10-13 minutes or until golden brown. Make a homemade glaze with powdered sugar, almond milk, and vanilla extract and place on top. And make them extra festive with some pink sprinkles.

Appetizers:

  1. Heart caprese skewers
  2. Charcuterie board

Both of these appetizer are quick to throw together. And how cute and festive are they? Check out my guide on how to build a charcuterie board here and just tailor your’s to be valentine’s day theme.  And for the heart caprese skewers, first slice your cherry tomatoes in half at a diagonal. and then flip one of them upside down to create a heart shaped tomato. But I also have a Instagram Reel you can check out for reference. And then use a 6 inch skewer and add basil, mozzarella ball, heart tomato, mozzarella ball, and basil.
