Eating healthy with a full time job:

With a full time job and a long commute to and from work, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be challenging. What works for me may not work for you, but I am here to share some of my tips on maintaining a healthy lifestyle while being super busy.

Have a plan:

This includes having a game plan as far as how my week is going to look like. I like to plan meals for the week and then plan for the groceries I’ll be needing based off those projected meals I have planned. I also make sure to schedule in my workouts around my work schedule. Because not only is it important to eat healthy but it is also important to move your body.

Meal prep:

If you don’t know this about me by now, meal prepping is my JAM. Every Sunday you will find me in my kitchen for a couple hours preparing meals and snacks for the upcoming week. This allows me to only have to spend time cooking 1-2 a week and less clean up throughout the week. Check these meal prep ideas out: Batch Cooking Meal Prep EditionBatch Cooking Meal Prep #2

Stick to simple meals during the week:

One pan meals and 15 minute meals are my jam during the work week. If I run out of items I meal prepped on Sunday, I will always try to stick to meals that can be prepared in under 30 minutes. The last thing I want to do after a long day at work is cook, so the quicker the better, but I never skimp on flavor!!!

For example, this air fried wild caught salmon with everything but the bagel sesame seed seasoning, air fried cauliflower gnocchi, and roasted broccoli only took 20 minutes to prepare after work. Simple meals can be satisfying, healthy, and delicious. I honestly have found that the simpler the meals are the tastier they are!

  1. Don’t over complicate things or compare: If you can’t get it all done don’t worry you are human! Never compare your journey to someone else’s journey either, that will only stress you out more. Remember that we all have our ways of going about things, find what works for you and run with it.
  2. Have fun: Life is too short to be consumed by the everyday hustle and bustle. Remember if you can’t get it all done it is okay, do what you can, and just have FUN.
