Air Fried Chickpea Croutons

Chickpea Croutons:

When it comes to enjoying salads, I always have to have some sort of crunch. And these crispy air fried chickpea croutons do the trick every time. And they are the perfect prep ahead option for a snack or addition to soups or salads.

Ingredients:

  1. Chickpeas drained, rinsed, skin removed
  2. Garlic avocado oil spray (substitute 1 tsp of any type of oil you use)
  3. Paprika
  4. Cumin
  5. Salt and pepper to taste
  6. Garlic powder

But feel free to mix and match the seasonings based off your preference. And I also like to make a sweet option for a treat with maple syrup, cinnamon, and pumpkin spice.

How to prepare in the air fryer:

I add my rinsed and skin removed chickpeas to my air fryer basket, spray with the garlic avocado oil spray, add seasonings, and mix with my hands. And air fry 370 for 15-20 minutes shaking half way through.

Preparing in the oven:

And if you don’t have an air fryer, don’t worry, these can be prepared in the oven. Add the chickpeas to a lined baking dish, spray with garlic avocado oil spray, add seasonings, and mix. And bake 400 F for 20-25 minutes, shaking half way through.

What do I use them in?

I like adding mine to salads, especially the massaged kale Caesar salad! But they also make for a good crunchy snack option by themselves or in a soup.

How do I store them?

And for storing, I keep mine store in an airtight container at room temperature. Because if you stick in the refrigerator they will lose the crispiness to them.

 

Air Fried Chickpea Croutons

Makes 1 cup

Ingredients

  • 1 can chickpeas
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Garlic avocado oil spray

Instructions

  • Instructions:
  • Rinse and drain your chickpeas removing the skin
  • Add chickpeas to air fried pan
  • Spray with garlic avocado oil
  • Add seasoning and mix with hands to ensure all chickpeas are coated
  • Cook in air fryer 370 for 15-20 minutes shaking half way through
  • If baking add to a lined baking dish and bake 400 F 20-25 minutes shaking half way
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature
